MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 15, 2011) – 2010 Super DIRTcar Series Runner-up Jimmy Phelps will return to the Heinke-Baldwin Racing (HBR) No. 98H Troyer for the 2011 Super DIRTcar Series, eyeing the Championship Trophy. In addition to the 2011 Super DIRTcar Series schedule,Phelps will attempt to compete for the Race of Champions (RoC) 2011 Championship. He will also compete for track championships in his family-owned No. 99J J&B Insulations Troyer at Fulton Speedway, Brewerton Speedway and Cayuga County Fair Speedway.
Last season, the Baldwinsville, N.Y., native collected four wins, 14 top-fives and 21 top-10s en route to a runner-up finish in the 2010 Super DIRTcar Series Championship in the No. 98H HBR Troyer.
"It has been a long winter, so we are glad to start get going," explained Phelps. "We came awful close last year. When you get that close, it makes the hunger gets stronger, so we are ready to get started. Our main focus is the DIRT tour, but the schedule appears it will allow us to do both. As long as we're in the running for the championship, we are going to go for the championship in RoC. We are cautiously optimistic that we can make a run at it without affecting the dirt deal."
In his family-owned No. 99J J&B Insulations Troyer, Phelps collected track championships at Fulton Speedway and Brewerton Speedway. He won three races, finished in the top-10 in 13 of 14 races and held the championship lead in 13 of 14 races at Fulton Speedway. He collected seven wins, finished in the top-10 in all 18 races and held top-honors for the entire season at Brewerton Speedway. Phelps also finished second at Cayuga County Fair Speedway and collected two wins and 11 top-fives in 13 races.
"Running Fulton and Brewerton will give more experience on the same tire as RoC," said Phelps. "Cayuga County Fair Speedway will have new management this year. I know them really well, so we're really excited to run there. We are looking forward to hopefully another great year."
Phelps will hit the track Saturday, March 19 in Selinsgrove, Penn. for the RoC season-opener. The Super DIRTcar Series willreturn to racing May 29th at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park.
